Add Revdoku with the claude mcp add command

Claude Code reads a Revdoku mailbox through MCP (a standard way for AI apps to use outside tools). Revdoku uses the HTTP transport, and you sign in once in your browser.

  1. Create a Revdoku account in your browser. The account comes with its first mailbox.
  2. In a terminal, go to your project folder and run this command: claude mcp add --transport http revdoku https://mcp.revdoku.com
  3. Start Claude Code in the same folder. Type /mcp and select revdoku.
  4. Sign in to Revdoku in the browser that opens. Select the mailboxes and Read & write, then click Connect.
  5. Ask Claude Code: Show my Revdoku mailbox address.

To sign in from the shell, run claude mcp login revdoku. To see the state of the server, run claude mcp list. To remove the server and its saved sign-in, run claude mcp remove revdoku.

If you already added Revdoku as a connector on claude.ai, you can skip the command. Sign in to Claude Code with the same Claude subscription, and it shows the connector as claude.ai Revdoku. An API key login does not load claude.ai connectors.

Choose a scope: one project, all projects or the team

The scope decides where Claude Code saves the server and who gets it. For example, this command adds Revdoku to all your projects: claude mcp add --transport http --scope user revdoku https://mcp.revdoku.com

The project scope writes this file. Each teammate still signs in to Revdoku with their own account. Claude Code asks each person to approve a server from .mcp.json before it uses it.

Read a sign-up verification email during a test

An end-to-end test (a test that uses your app like a real person) often stops at the email confirmation step. Claude Code can finish that step. It fills the sign-up form with the mailbox address. It calls mailbox_email_list again at short intervals until the email arrives. Then it reads the email with mailbox_email_get and uses the code or the link.

Run the sign-up end-to-end test. Use my Revdoku mailbox address as the new user's email.
Wait up to 2 minutes for the verification email. Use mailbox_email_list to look for it.
Use only an email that arrived after the test started.
Open the link in that email and finish the test. Do not reply to the email.

Use this only for test accounts in your own app. Use only the address that Revdoku returns, not an invented alias or a +tag address. Revdoku does not promise that an email arrives before a code expires. Give the test a deadline and report a timeout as a failure.

Claude Code asks before each Revdoku tool call. To let a test poll without prompts, allow only the two read tools in .claude/settings.json. Claude Code still asks before the send and delete tools.

For the claude.ai connector, the tool names start with mcp__claude_ai_Revdoku__ instead.

Use the Revdoku skill and CLI for local files

Claude Code has a shell, so it can also run the Revdoku CLI (a command-line program). The CLI uploads local files, including PDFs and images. The hosted MCP server cannot do that. It also saves an attachment to a path that you give with --output. To install the skill for Claude Code in all your projects, run:

This install does not add revdoku to your PATH. Claude Code runs the bundled scripts/revdoku.sh from the skill folder. If you are not signed in, the CLI opens a browser sign-in. To run revdoku yourself, follow the CLI installation.

CLAUDE.md rules for code that calls Revdoku

Sometimes the test code itself must read the email, for example in CI (the automatic test runs on each code change). Then Claude Code writes that code with the revdoku SDK (a code library) from npm or PyPI. First, copy the Revdoku API rules from the coding agents guide into CLAUDE.md or .claude/CLAUDE.md in your project. Claude Code loads that file at the start of each session.

The rules tell Claude Code to keep the key in REVDOKU_API_KEY on the backend. They also tell it not to retry createMailbox or sendEmail after an unknown result. CLAUDE.md guides what Claude tries to do. The permission rules above decide what Claude Code allows.
